Historical backgroundThe Australian Deafness Council (New South Wales Branch) began in 1983. In 1992, the National committee of Australian Deafness Council, met in forum and amalgamated with other national deafness organisations, creating a new national body - the Deafness Forum of Australia (DFA). The DFA now has a national office in Canberra. The New South Wales branch was restructured as the Deafness Council of NSW Incorporated, to continue peak activities at a state level. Today we meet regularly to discuss issues relating to deafness at the Better Hearing office in Concord. |
